Happy Holidays to you and yours!
It’s that wonderful time of year. We’re in the middle of decorating our house, stringing up lights outside, and you guessed it – hanging up our stockings on the mantle.
Which leads me to my “oh, sh*t” moment this week when I realized that we need to fill these! My 8 month old son isn’t old enough to know what’s going on, but my 3-year-old daughter is beginning to understand what’s up.
That said, I needed stocking stuffer ideas STAT for toddlers. And unique ones at that!
So I perused several lists online and selected my favorites below. My criteria for excellent, unique and different stocking stuffers were as follows:
- Needs to be useful and/or last longer than five seconds
- Ideally doesn’t come with tons of little pieces that get spread across the house and lost instantly
- Ideally doesn’t really add to the clutter of the house….. but who are we kidding, we live with toddlers. There is ALWAYS clutter.
Hope these ideas give you some good inspiration this holiday season. Share your other ideas with me in the comments below!
8 Unique Stocking Stuffer Ideas for Toddlers*
*Note that the gifts below do not always FIT into Christmas stockings, but are good gifts nonetheless… Santa always laid out our stockings with presents arranged around them anyways!
I LOVE this one. For instance, what toddler doesn’t love bubbles? Not to mention, this machine blows 500 per minute. Creates entertainment for hours, and you don’t have to lift a finger. This is the gift that keeps on giving.
Tip: If you want to keep this in the stocking, place a bubble wand in their stocking, and when they take it out, show them the bubble maker!
These are super cool and a fun treat for kids. Each straw has a different flavor, and you can buy different ones such as banana, chocolate, cotton candy, etc. There is some sugar added in each straw, but far less than adding syrup or powder to milk. A fun and portable treat!
So I have a love/hate relationship with anything “color” wise in the bathtub. Some products I’ve tried are great; others are a mess and don’t seem to do much.
These color tablets are rated 4.5 stars on Amazon, and toddlers seem to love them. They don’t stain your child, washcloths or anything but the water. Great fun and easy clean up!
Pull back cars have been around for who knows how long – but children love them! These are friction powered – pull back and watch them race off. This particular model above comes with a set of 12. Great for putting in several little stockings or gift bags.
Tip – Pull six out and save the other six for a moment where you need something new (like on a plane or long car ride)
These are superb – my daughter has a set like these from our day care, and she is constantly pulling them out. She loves pointing out which letter is which and making the sound that the letter makes.
This is a perfect one to have on deck in the car as well, for your littles in their car seats or in your diaper bag while you’re shopping.
I love, love, love Vtech – they make some of the best toys around. This Vtech Spin & Learn flashlight is pretty awesome, top rated on Amazon, and easily fits into a stocking.
The best part? After 45 seconds of inactivity, the toy automatically turns off. Which means you don’t have to worry about batteries running out after someone leaves it on!
So again, I get that this one may not fit into a stocking, unless you have really big ones or you fold it down tightly. However, this is always a fun one that you can sit next to the stocking, or put some Christmas gifts into the backpack!
Toddlers LOVE their backpacks, especially ones with older brothers and sisters. An all around good gift. Plus this one comes in different patterns, and you can probably also get it monogrammed. Win!
If your toddler is like mine, brushing teeth can be challenging. Some days she wants to, other days she wants nothing to do with it. I’m a huge fan of this Paw Patrol bundle – the toothbrush, toothpaste and fun cup all come together.
The bundle also comes in other fun characters – Curious George, Star Wars, Frozen and more on Amazon.
There ya have it! Even if you don’t like any of these ideas, they hopefully inspired other thoughts.
